Please be aware, this is a two day workshop- Day one of the workshop will always take place on a Saturday and day two will take place the following Sunday, both days run from 12:00-17:00.
In this workshop beginner and experienced tufters alike can create a rug, wall hanging, or versatile textile of up to 80cm x 80cm. Participants will be encouraged to experiment with three different guns, each with a unique pile height, as well as bold color choices for a one of a kind piece of art. This workshop takes place over two consecutive days to provide enough time for participants to complete their rugs and gain full understanding of the rug making process.
You can either arrive with an idea of what you would like to create, an item or idea that inspires you, or organically create your design as you tuft. For this workshop I highly encourage you to come in with a more vague idea that can be molded and changed as you experiment with colors and textures! If coming with your own design, keep in mind that it should be relatively simple as small details can be difficult to execute and take considerably more time.
All tools and materials will be provided, as well as tea and snacks :) Workshop will cover basic techniques of rug tufting in three different pile types as well as carving and finishing techniques. Rugs can be taken home after the class and backed yourself, or backed by me and picked up in three business days. If you are not local to Berlin your rug can also be shipped for 9€, payable after the class via IBAN or cash.
