Join us at Rugburn Studio to learn the foundations of machine tufting and create your very own 30x30cm wall hanging or table rug!
We place a heavy emphasis on experimentation and creative freedom. Rather than sticking to one technique you’ll get to work with three distinct types of tufting machines, combining tall fluffy stitches, low punch-needle textures, and bold loop piles all in one organic, one-of-a-kind piece.
We start with a hands-on test run so you can try each machine, feel the different textures, and decide what suits your style best. You can come with a precise draft, a few mood board images, or zero ideas at all! Our relaxed, guided environment lets you build your design organically as you go.
Depending on time, we’ll also cover trimming, shaving, and carving your rug to bring those details to life. Want to spend extra time carving your rug with the electric shaver? Go for a simpler design with solid color blocks, as detail work takes time!
You will leave this workshop with confidence in operating the three types of machines, enough knowledge to create rugs independently, and experience to take an advanced tufting workshop.
