Please note: This Workshop takes place in a private apartment.
We will start with a 30 min lecture introducing you to these type of printing technique, different stages of process and possibilities of making. Then we will get right into practice. You start with transfer sketch to paper, then you cut your design with scissors and/or scalpel into a special screen printing paper. You can use your own motifs. After an introduction to printing, you will then print your finished stencil onto different print substrates. Each participant will get a chance to create their own drawing shaped according to their personal master plan. You'll make 1-3 copies of one print in this workshop on paper А3 DIN.
A monotype is a print, but with one major difference from other printmaking processes: the artist creates exactly one print, instead of multiples. This is due to the way a monotype is made. To make a monotype, the artist applies paint or ink directly onto the plate — which can be metal, glass, plexiglas. The plate is pressed against the paper to transfer the ink. The printing is done on a printing press. It’s a simple process that allows for lots of experimentation and variation. The artist can create layered prints, use objects as masks between plate and paper, or selectively apply pressure to create a trace monotype. After the first print is pulled, there will be some ink left on the plate for a second, fainter "ghost print".
Please bring your sketch.
