Learn how to model with wax and create a one of a kind, hand modelled silver pendant which you can cherish for years to come.
Wax is such a versatile material. It’s been carved and modelled by artisan jewellers for thousands of years. It can be kneaded, filed, drilled, carved, dripped, and dipped. It’s a playful and therapeutic method requiring no previous experience.
During this two and a half hour workshop, you’ll be shown the many playful ways in which wax can be used and create your very own, hand modelled silver pendant. We’ll explore what your perfect treasure will look like, and use a wide range of tools and textures to bring your idea to life.
This workshop will focus on taking textures and forms found in nature, by using found objects such as stones, shells, and tree bark as mark-making tools. We’ll also explore some folk traditions and symbolism that you might choose to incorporate into your design. At the end of the workshop, Stephanie will make sure your model is ready for production. It will then be cast in sterling silver, before being polished and finished in Stephanie’s studio. Your final piece will be sent to you with a 18 inch silver chain in a beautiful presentation box.
